Who are we?
Meet the People Tours are a joint venture between Traidcraft, the UK's leading fair trade organisation and Saddle Skedaddle, a small independent tour operator. The range of tours are managed by Skedaddle in conjunction with Traidcraft.
Traidcraft has been running a variety of tours for about 20 years and they have changed and evolved over time. With the growing interest in fair trade and the broader cultural and development issues connected to it, we are developing a range of tours that will allow our supporters and friends the opportunity to see the benefits of our work, fighting poverty through trade. Visit www.traidcraft.co.uk to find out more.
Saddle Skedaddle was set up in 1995 by Andrew Straw and Paul Snedker, both seasoned travellers and experienced cyclists, Saddle Skedaddle has established itself as the premier independent biking company in the UK. To find out more visit www.skedaddle.co.uk
Paul worked at Traidcraft for over 8 years within Traidcraft Exchange and left in 2001 to run Saddle Skedaddle full time. His links to and knowledge of Traidcraft and fair trade and his experience of the tourism industry make Skedaddle ideally placed to work with Traidcraft on the development of these new and unique tours.
The Skedaddle HQ can be found in the aptly named Byker in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. There’s a local Geordie saying, ‘nowt’s a bother’ - which pretty much sums up that extra something that’s added to our trips that transforms them from good to magical. "Going that extra mile for our customers isn’t an obligation - it’s just what we do."
Saddle Skedaddle meet the European Package Travel, Package Holidays and Package Tour legislation through ABTOT membership (NUmber 5111) and bonding ensuring financial protection for our customers.
