It was one of the best holidays of my life (and I’m aged 60!). A real adventure spent among like-minded people in a beautiful country. Saddle Skedaddle did their utmost to provide the best of what was available and Peter couldn’t have tried harder to ensure both our safety and our enjoyment. Thank you Peter (team leader) and Saddle Skedaddle!

Can't wait for the next one...
We have done several cycling trips in various countries and this is definitely one of the best if not the very best. The pre-trip information was helpful and all my additional enquiries received a quick response. A lot of thought appeared to have been given to finding a variety of accommodation throughout the trip.
This route was extremely well planned out to give a variety of scenery and to see most of the best tourist sight. My favourite day was the third cycling day which was also the hardest day’s cycling. Steve was great. Calm, reassuring, knowledgeable and had an excellent sense of humour. The Cuban guide with us was young, enthusiastic and spoke good English. He could answer almost every one of the many many questions our group threw at him. He also was able to laugh and joke easily with the group. Knowing we had back up if things had gone wrong was well worth paying for. Definitely value for money.
This was our second Skedaddle holiday. That speaks for itself.
As seen in the press...
(Saddle Skedaddle’s) Cuban Revolutions cycle tour reaches parts of Cuba most bike spokes don’t cover. It includes the most exciting road in Cuba – the southern coastal route west of Santiago de Cuba, where the road is straitjacketed between the Sierra Maestra mountains and the wild Caribbean. The tour combines colonial cities with rural idylls, and offers nights in casas particulares (private B&Bs).

Well up to the high standard we have come to expect from Skedaddle
It was wonderful to find Tony welcoming us on arrival at Havana – he knew us from a previous trip to Vietnam and he greeted us like old friends. He is an excellent leader – very knowledgeable about all things bikey and quick to get his hands greasy and sort out mechanical problems, fast. He is well-informed about the local area and his experience showed in his ability to assess the riding conditions and make adjustments to the routes taken. He is a great communicator, able to relate to people of all sorts, encouraging when the hills get steep, a confidence-builder. Leaders don’t get much better than this. Thanks, Tony! Lazaro was an excellent local guide – an excellent communicator, reliable and informative. He was a real asset and clearly worked well in partnership with Tony. The local driver, Ivan was an excellent third team member.
One day which sticks in the mind was the day spent hiking through the rain forest to La Plata – lovely views and a new experience to walk in jungle. It helped to put aspects of the Cuban revolution into perspective. The day spent cycling from Santiago to Sierramar was very enjoyable.
A great trip which goes all over the island. Interesting to see places off the beaten track.
I really enjoyed the 50 mile day along the coast from Santiago de Cuba!
It was the best holiday I've had in a long time.
A great itinerary and every day we did something new and found something different and special. I feel I have a good insight into the country and and sampled many different aspects. The thing I liked best was cycling down back roads which otherwise I would not have known were there! Thanks to our guides for helping me to see the real Cuba, off the beaten track.
I loved it - we were looked after extremely well...
The itinerary was fantastic, Steve and our Cuban guide Alex were absolute stars – outstanding trip and service from start to finish. Thank you!
Steve couldn’t do enough for us – we barely had to lift a finger. OK so I had to do some cycling but he even gave us a push up the hill and reminded us that ‘pain is just weakness leaving the body’ – which was massively helpful ;-) He was brilliant – always there, always looking out for us, always cheerful and friendly and professional, even when he got asked ridiculous questions… Alex our Cuban guide was brilliant too – very keen, engaged, helpful, full of information, and taught me to swear in Spanish, so added bonus.
Expect me to be in touch about my next Skedaddle holiday...
I really liked the variety of the accommodation. Staying with local families was enjoyable and the food was very good. I always felt well provided for. It really benefitted the overall experience of the holiday.
Tony was a great tour leader. I found him to be friendly, patient, good fun but also very professional.
Can't wait for the next Skedaddle holiday!
The holiday was well worth it – a quality holiday!
Steve and Douglas (tour leaders) were wonderful. Steve was very competent and professional and Douglas was such fun. We got on well and became very fond of him. He taught us a lot about Cuba, the revolution, the Castros and Che Guevara. I would be delighted if Steve was leader on another tour we might do.
Service above and beyond...
As with our previous experience with Skedaddle, the tour leader went above and beyond expectations – dealing with every eventuality, questions, requests, concerns – everything from coming up with superglue to fix broken sunglasses to carefully removing spines from someones foot!
Great that you contact us before the trip to check everything OK – really makes you feel that Skedaddle are making every effort to ensure a smooth, worry-free trip.
The local guides knowledge and love for Cuba is undoubted. It made for a truly memorable holiday!
Had a fantastic time! Cannot complain about the service or anything provided by the team.
Looking forward to my next Skedaddle trip...
It was an extremely well organised holiday nothing was ever a problem and unfailing support throughout.
Very hard to pick a favourite day, as they were all were great.
The pre-holiday information was excellent – the trip notes really do tell you what’s on the tin!
I think it was down to Steve that we had such good off road days in particular. He was keen to take us on an adventure and without thinking we were all up for it. He was really good at managing our expectations and preparing us for what was ahead. Very good support for the novices too. Douglas was great! Factual and organisational stuff aside (both good by the way) he gave us salsa lessons and taught us the ‘pain dance‘. Plus he was a real gentleman.
A very enjoyable holiday with good leadership. The route was well thought out and the accommodation and meals were spot on. There was a good mix of hotels, all inclusives and casas – the casa gave is the valuable opportunity to sample life with a family.
