Forming a dramatic border between France and Italy, the Alps of the Haute-Savoy offer mind-blowing landscapes linked by a labyrinth of amazing trails. This is a true mountain biker’s “Shangri-la”. The grandeur of the scenery is truly breathtaking, on top of which you add the delights of twisting singletrack, high alpine snaking ridge trails, fun flowing trails through forests.
We'll take you through two very contrasting regions and cultures as we ride in France and Italy, through pastures, along lakes sides, past ancient military fortresses and tackle some outstanding singletrack over high passes. The alpine town of Aussois is our French base from where tremendous routes take us through the snowcapped mountains and glacial landscape of the Vanoise National Park. Mid-point of the trip, we take a cable car for a sneaky uplift to a stunning mountain refuge where we stay overnight – be prepared for some spectacular views and some great biking right on your doorstep! Our adventure continues on our way to Italy as we ride closer to the historical border, taking ancient military trails that now make for some fantastic singletrack contouring off mountain peaks and flowing descents over alpine medows. Finally we ride over into Italy via a 2,700 metre pass, retracing Hannibal’s heroic steps.
Ending in Susa, the vibrancy of Italy will contrast with our French stay. The final ride is an extravaganza of singletrack from the famous Haute Route of the Assietta all the way to Oulx at the far end of the Val di Susa.
This holiday features endless world class alpine singletrack, requiring high levels of both physical fitness and technical skills.
