Skedaddler Elaine Warriner recently joined us in the Lake District to give road cycling a go for the first time and see what all the fuss was about! Here’s her creative take on her exciting two-wheeled experience…
First time on a road bike –
What’s it going to be like?
More importantly, will I manage to stay upright?!
A quick lesson on brakes and gears
And now it’s time to tackle those fears.
We’re off and the bike feels good.
Made it from the bars to the hoods.
Here comes the rain, but no matter.
Can’t see the view, so time for a natter.
Now for those hills.
Oops, in the wrong gear again!
Never mind, no cause to complain.
The rain’s gone and out come’s the sun.
Look at how many miles we’ve done!
At last, down on to the drops
And whizzing downhill at a fast rate of knots.
We’re fast covering the miles
And my face has the broadest of smiles.
Those hills may be cheeky and clarty
But I’m loving this road biking malarkey.
Thanks to Alex, Ann and Steve –
A fab weekend, but now it’s time to leave.
But my new love affair with road biking
Is very much to my liking!
Feeling inspired?
