Skedaddle Espana

Our team down in Andalucía is headed up by Dan Hirst, who cut his teeth in the north of the country guiding on the Camino de Santiago and the Picos before deciding to ‘hang his helmet’ in the south and make Tarifa home for himself, his family and Skedaddle España. For those of you who’ve either been guided by Dan or met him as the face of Skedaddle on our self guided trips, you’ll be familiar with the laid back Spanish approach that he combines with an enviable professional attitude. It’s one hell of a combination and something that seems to have seeped into the veins of his team down there… maybe it’s the sunshine there that melds it all together.

Dan rides: Usually one that nobody else wants…Family comes first eh!  job @ Skedaddle España Head honcho, chief guide, cook and bottle-washer. Why Spain? The Spanish interpretation of time. Where was home? Yorkshire (it’s a state of mind). What do you miss about home? The ladies that call you ‘love’ in the Sweet Shop.

Christine rides: 12yr old GT Tempest MTB, not the most up-to-date but I still love the colour so much I can’t bring myself to get a new one. job @ Skedaddle España Updating the database and website. Why Spain? Definitely the weather! Where was home? Hamburg, Germany (NOT my favourite weather). What do you miss about home? Old friends..the ones that don’t visit!

Stewart rides: Canyon hardtail with a few scratches. job @ Skedaddle España Guide and professional picnic maker. Why Spain? Its beautiful mountains and countryside and that there’s hardly anyone around. Where was home? Manchester – the Sky Blue end. What do you miss about home? Speaking English.

Sabine rides: Specialized Rockhopper, 29. job @ Skedaddle España Bookings, research, social media and support on trips. Why Spain? Good lifestyle and sun. Where was home? Nürnberg, southern Germany. What do you miss about home? Good old friends and family.

Andy rides: Giant Trance 2. job @ Skedaddle España Guide and driver (but only if I can’t ride)! Why Spain? All year good weather for outdoor sports and its miles and miles of wild rocky singletrack. Where was home? The Big Smoke. What do you miss about home? British National Parks and malt loaf.
