This superb tour has become our signature road cycling holiday and deservedly so with its miles of great classic riding; it really is a distinctly varied cycling adventure which showcases some of the the best of coastal cycling in France and Italy.
Following arrival and an evening of fine Niçoise cuisine on the French Riviera, we ride out of town into the hills that overlook the city. Our first ride takes us through numerous ancient small towns and perched villages and takes us up and over the Col de Vence, an occasional Tour de France climb and a frequent feature of Paris-Nice. Our first day’s route is a popular training ground for pro-riders and on any day of the week it is so we might even encounter some big names.
Later we set sail for the beautiful island of Corsica. A night crossing allows for an early morning arrival in one of the ports on the island's western coastline and gives us plenty of time to enjoy a full day in the saddle as we head in head down the coast to Porto. During the next two days we will ride some of the island’s most dramatic roads, visiting numerous beautifully rustic and very typical town and villages along the way.
Our final Corsican ride sees us rising into the chestnut forests of the Castagniccia before descending into Bastia. The following morning we make our crossing to Tuscany, in Italy. In Tuscany, another popular training ground for the pro-peloton we spend the next two days exploring the country lanes around historic walled city of Lucca and the small town of Vinci, birthplace of Leonardo himself.
Next on the itinerary are the dramatic slopes of Italy’s most enchanting coastline, the Cinque Terra (Five Lands), where, if time allows, we visit each of the five villages which give their name to this area of extreme natural beauty.
From the Cinque Terre we head inland to the mountain town of Gavi in Piemonte and a blast along the roads which used to be home of the legendary Italian cyclist Fausto Coppi.
One final transfer back towards Nice sets us up for one last ride as we finish in style on the city's world- famous Promenade Des Anglais.

Teamwork, makes the dream work, and David, John and Nico certainly helped to make that happen. Thank you very much.
Everyday was wonderful...
Special word of thanks to David who is clearly dedicated to providing his clients with amazing bike tours. His researching of great routes and his ability to guide a group fun and safely are unmatched based on my comparisons with others.
I will be back again – you have some great choices!
I enjoyed every minute and would‘nt change anything. We were well looked after.
Fantastic tour guide...
David did a great job it’s a complicated trip to organise with the ferry crossings and transfers. All I had to think about was riding the bike, and enjoying the scenery, ideal.
A well organised trip, visiting some beautiful places...
As usual, David was an excellent guide who did his best to ensure that we enjoyed ourselves. He has a good flexible nature, he’s always friendly and approachable and has an excellent knowledge of the area/routes.
Once again David and the team excelled with creating a great trip, interesting cycling and even planned a couple of cooler days with a few rain dances. The service was top rate. David is the best leader by far I have ever had the pleasure of riding with. He spent hours fixing bikes, route planning and preparing for the days that went un-noticed by many of the group. The pre-holiday service was also great, lots of information, follow up calls etc.
The Grand Tour was my 4th Skedaddle holiday (and counting)... You could say I like the trips!
I was very impressed with the bike and high quality components, it was better than my own!
Some days were very demanding – mental and physical perseverance required!. Cinque Terre, 60km day with 2100 metres of climing was brutal but then again everyone had the option to bale. EFI club…
We had a really great trip. David Hall provided lovely routes, delicious lunches and worked incredibly hard to ensure everything went well for everyone despite some challenging weather.

David was excellent, he never tired of answering everyone’s questions. His lunches were great also, a lot of thought and presentation went into them.
