Cape Town is our destination for what is a stunning road cycling holiday in South Africa. A vibrant, cosmopolitan, trendy city that often has first time visitors confused that they actually are really in Africa.
Apart from its vibrancy and Euro-African appeal, the metropolis and surrounds, display some of the most breathtaking natural beauty on the planet. Fortunately for cyclists, much of this beauty is traversed by good quality asphalted roads.
This exciting and challenging 1000 km round-trip tour of the Western Cape is a diverse adventure, starting and ending in the Cape Town region. The route takes us through some of South Africa’s world-famous areas of wine country, through fruit orchards, pasturelands and marine drives.
We venture into semi-arid regions and wild and rugged countryside. Throughout our journey we will also encounter numerous mountain passes and while they may not be as long and as high as some of those we come across in Europe, they are guaranteed to get your heart racing.
From the glitz and glamour of Cape Town’s Waterfront and the sophisticated colonial beauty of Stellenbosch to the sleepy isolated “dorps” of the country’s interior, this 12 day tour will give you a comprehensive insight into South African life, scenery and natural beauty.
