A road cycling holiday in the UK
taking in the best riding Scotland has to offer. If ever there was a destination in the British Isles to demonstrate that you don’t have to travel outside the UK to enjoy incredible dramatic landscapes, genuine wilderness and superb riding then it would have to be the Highlands of Scotland.
Inspired by the reaction of our participants during our Lands End to John O’Groats tours every time we get “north of the border” this extensive highlands adventure allows enough time to really soak up that unique Celtic atmosphere and takes in the best of the best of Scottish countryside.
Real mountain passes, fresh air, huge views, heather-clad hills for as far as the eye can see, wild animals and ancient castles, the Tour d’Écosse has everything you might expect from a visit to one of Europe’s loveliest countries.
Starting and finishing in the highland city of Inverness you can’t fail to be amazed by the outstanding natural beauty and incredible tranquillity of what is a surprisingly sparsely populated region.
As the riding begins we’ll meander our way northwards around the Beauly and Dornoch Firths taking in the wild beauty of the North Sea coast.
After a night in Lairg we start to head over to the mountains of the West coast via stunning lochside roads and remote settlements. Once on the West coast we'll spend several days working our way southwards exploring the beautiful rocky shores and challenging swoopy terrain.
Our trip down the west coast finishes at Applecross where we turn inland to tackle the greatest road ascent in the UK the 'Bealach Na Ba Pass', this will take your breath away and not just because of the amazing views. Then all that is left for us is to hop aboard the support vehicles and traverse from the west to the east coast back to Inverness.
