This simply lovely cycling holiday in France
visits the Atlantic Coast, starting in La Rochelle, a one thousand year old white washed city famed for its two imposing towers that guard the old town, before following the dramatic Atlantic Coast south to the coastal resort of Royan. Highlights along the way include a ride to Baie de l’Aiguillon, a visit to the affluent island of Ile de Ré and the chance to chill out and relax on the beautiful beaches of Royan.
The long expanses of white beaches along the Atlantic Coast have been well looked after and have kept their charm, with minimal development in comparison to some of the other Costas and Côtes across Europe. The coastline is characterised by pretty port towns, stunning sandy beaches and a wide area of flat land, perfect for cycling!
Skedaddle believes that good food and comfortable hotels are key to making the cycling experience a positive one, so whether travelling by road, train or plane, a warm welcome will be waiting for you, and you will be looked after in warm, friendly accommodation for the duration of your stay. We use locally owned, small hotels and B&B’s to ensure you get a real feel for the local hospitality and charm.
You’ll be cycling along country lanes and cyclepaths, on largely flat terrain. These self guided holidays are available for a minimum of two people. We book all your accommodation, transfer your luggage and then provide you with routes and an itinerary for you to do the trails ‘unguided’. Just let us know your preferred start date.
