This cycling holiday through Holland and Belgium is the perfect way to explore! Both countries are intrinsically linked with both cycling and waterways, so what better way to explore these beautiful countries than with a mixture of both? The classic artist’s landscape, synonymous with long canals, windmills and a rich industrial heritage can be explored on this route, finishing up in the picturesque, World Heritage city of Bruges.
This relaxed cycling holiday starts in Amsterdam, travelling along the canals and waterways, guaranteeing a striking and diverse introduction to the heart of the country. The cycling will take us along calm, tranquil riversides, through perfectly preserved historic villages, along winding dike roads and even through the odd larger city for some relaxed nightlife and delicious local specialties.
Along the way, we pass by beautiful windmill strewn country side along the Merwede canal, get to explore one of the oldest cities in Holland; Dordrecht and we get the opportunity to see the ‘Delta Plan’ in action, and witness giant concrete dams and huge steel doors that are controlling the storming, raging water beneath. This is something not to be missed. There is even time for a leisurely boat ride from Zierikzee to Middelburg to avoid the strong winds if you fancy a break from cycling, giving you a chance to put your feet up for a while.
These tours are run in conjunction with our partners in Holland and you will join their guests on the tour. Your accommodation for the week is on a specially designed boat, where you will be able to share experiences of the day with other cyclists over dinner. During the day route descriptions are provided and you are free to explore at your own pace.
