Throughout European history, people have travelled from the Alps to the Adriatic coast for commerce and military reasons. Now this is your chance to follow in their tracks and enjoy a fantastic cycling holiday in Italy. The tour gives you an insight into the natural wonders from the shores of northern Lake Garda to Venice, touching Riva del Garda, Sirmione, Verona and the medieval towns of Montagnana, Padova, Venice and the lagoons around Chioggia.
With plenty of free time, this trip is set up to give you the chance to visit the hidden Renaissance gems of the “Belpaese”. Leaving the majestic limestone ranges towering above Lake Garda behind us, the cruise across the lake is truly fascinating, as towering limestone cliffs drop dramatically into the lake, barely leaving space for the small villages to spread and survive.
From the southern shores of Lake Garda, we'll continue our journey by bike following the Adige River, along the canals, through fields cultivated with fruit and vines, over hills and stopping to visit cities of great, Italian artistic interest. A relaxing and quiet pace will lead us to the lagoon of Venice, the Venetian Serenissima and after cycling along a strip of land between land and sea finishing up in the beautiful Chioggia.
Do let us know if you'd like to extend your trip in Venice, or if you'd prefer to self-guide using route notes and maps.
