Utilising the National Cycle Network, with that extra Skedaddle ingredient, we cycle along the boundary of the Old Roman Empire, starting and finishing at either end of Hadrian’s Wall. During the cycling you'll follow in the footsteps of Roman soldiers, whilst experiencing some of the rich heritage that Cumbria & Northumberland have to offer. This wonderful cycling holiday passes through open hill country, peaceful river valleys and finishes at the North Sea at Tynemouth.
After arriving into Newcastle you spend the first night in this vibrant city before we transfer you to Bowness-on-Solway and the start of your ride which ends 100 miles later in Tynemouth where we will meet you and transfer you back to Newcastle for your onward journey home.
There's lots to see along the way for both adults and children and the sense of achievement at completing a coast to coast cycling journey as a family is for many the real highlight.
Accommodation, transfers, luggage transfers and emergency back-up are all included in the price and we also provide detailed route notes and maps to enable you to do the route self guided.
Looking for a UK family cycling holiday on quiet roads, traffic free paths and National Cycle Network routes? Then the Hadrian's Cycleway is the holiday for you. This trip can also be done over any number of days and also as a 4 day supported trip

Is this holiday suitable for your family?

This trip is ideal for active families who cycle regularly and are looking for a cycling holiday with lots of fun and adventure to be had! The trip is place to place, so your children should be able to cycle the distances stated on the dossier. The terrain is mainly on cycle tracks and hilly in places with some cheeky climbs. There are also some small off-road sections and the occasional stretch that takes you alongside the main road so your children must be comfortable and safe cycling in this environment.
